The prestigious ceremony was held in Masonic Centre, Sydney on the 1st of November, 2024. Hon. Stephen Kamper, Minister for Multicultural Affairs was the guest of honour. Halal dinner was served in the Gala Presentation dinner.
The ceremony by channel 7 has a long history and it is done every year in Sydney, Tasmania and at many other places.
This year 200 nominations were received from NSW and Canberra only for the Group Award category. They included Crown Land Management Departments, local Councils, safety organisations, Customers service oranisations, small businesses, local legends and community groups.
Out of 200 nominations received from the various communities only 4 were selected for prestigious awards. Out of those 4 organisations Australian Afghan Hasnain Youth Association also known as Muhammad Rasulallah Islamic Centre located in Regents Park was one of them. Moreover it was the only Islamic organisation from NSW and Canberra which was highly praised when the award was presented to its founder Haji Sayeed G. Karimi. Alongside the president was also a valued member of AAHYA, Mr. Sayed Zawar, President of Shia National Network, who also got this award on behalf of AAHYA.
Sayed Zawar Shah said while getting the award along Sayeed Karimi that AAHYA is the most active and functional member of the Shia Network. Its office is opened for the clients 5 days a week from 9 am to 5 pm. The Centre teaches art, English language at various level, Islamic teachings, driving and swimming classes. Periodically the staff gives away food packages, fabrics and school uniforms to the needy people and youth.
This award is another award added to the organisation's already active award list. AAHYA has received various prestigious awards of different levels for various community services, Mr. Shah said.
